From the moment I met Patrick and Andy, I knew their wedding was going to be something special. They weren’t just planning a celebration; they were crafting an experience—one that reflected their love story, their personalities, and their shared joy in music, fun, and meaningful details.
Their wedding took place last November at Turner Hall Ballroom, a venue that held special significance in their relationship. It was one of their first date spots while concert-going and getting to know each other, making it the perfect place to say “I do.”
Their vision? An intentional, elegant, and wildly fun celebration—and they absolutely nailed it.
One of my favorite parts of working with Patrick and Andy was witnessing their thoughtfulness and creativity in bringing personal touches to every aspect of the day. During cocktail hour, which had a jazzy lounge vibe in Turner Hall’s upstairs space, guests enjoyed a custom crossword puzzle designed by the couple—because what’s more fitting for two NYT crossword aficionados?
Another sentimental touch was the wishing tree, a Dutch tradition where guests attached handwritten well-wishes to sprawling branches, creating a heartfelt, interactive keepsake.
And then came the reception—an absolute party. Patrick and Andy made sure their guests had an unforgettable time, turning the dance floor into a full-fledged concert experience. They threw out custom T-shirts, Pink Pony Club glow sticks, and cowboy hats to their guests, bringing the same high-energy excitement they love from their favorite shows. The crowd couldn’t get enough, and the energy was electric all night long!
From a design perspective, one of the most striking elements was the fluted arches that framed both their ceremony and reception space. These stunning pieces became a source of design inspiration, woven throughout their paper goods and even their wedding cake.
And in a truly full-circle moment, ‘The Arches’ became the inspiration for the band T-shirt wedding favors Patrick and Andy designed for their guests.
Patrick and Andy’s journey began the new-old-fashioned way: online.
Just a day after Patrick’s birthday, Andy downloaded a dating app, and their connection was instant—built on a shared love of niche movie quotes and smug pop music taste. Living just two blocks apart in Milwaukee, their first date was set perfectly in between—at Birch on November 6, 2019.
They worried about whether their online chemistry would translate in person, but after an easy, laughter-filled night (that even extended into a snowy Uber ride to The Cooperage), it was clear they had something special. Three more dates followed within a week and a half, and soon enough, they were inseparable.
Patrick and Andy’s wedding was more than a party—it was a reflection of everything that makes their love story so incredible. From the deep intentionality in their details to the absolute joy they infused into every moment, their day was a perfect celebration of them!
As they danced the night away beneath Turner Hall’s twinkling lights—surrounded by glow sticks, cowboy hats, and the people who love them most—it was clear: Patrick and Andy had created more than just a celebration. They had built their own love club, and everyone was lucky to be part of it…present company included.
