Shaina + Bobby built their home - and wedding venue
You know that Maren Morris song: the house don't fall when the bones are good. Shaina + Bobby manifested that song lyric in their house-building journey and, ultimately, on their wedding day.
Shortly after these two built their dream home in the quiet country of Mequon, Bobby popped the question! It was always their intention to keep things intimate, authentic, low key and magical.
During our initial consultation call, Shaina + Bobby expressed some concerns around a 'traditional-style' wedding. These concerns aren't unique to Shaina + Bobby, either. Many of my clients detail these same reservations - big weddings where the couple is too busy to eat, drink, mingle and, most importantly, soak in the precious moments.
Not only did Shaina + Bobby want a scaled-down guest list, they also wanted the warmth of their marriage to be felt + experienced on the foundations of their relationship...literally.
The backyard of their dream home - a rich blue, ranch-style house nestled on the long, windy roads of Mequon's farmlands. I'll just go ahead and say it: a fall wedding in Wisconsin has never been more beautiful.
From meticulous landscaping to lighting, sound systems and a beautiful fire pit, this backyard wedding venue had heart + soul. You better believe it! Shaina + Bobby worked so hard on their home - from the inside out, making it such an idyllic + purposeful spot to exchange their vows.
So much nature surrounds Shaina + Bobby's home. Hundred year-old trees, wildflower meadows, tall grasses + more. When it comes to beautiful photo backdrops, there was an abundance. Adding to that natural beauty was Lisa with Sunborn Gardens.
All the product that Lisa brought was homegrown on her farm in Mt Horeb, Wisc. Let that sink in. Kind of stimulates your faith in our state, doesn't it?!
In addition to the stunning local floral, we incorporated cinnamony antique rugs, amber glassware + terra cotta vases to foster all the fall wedding feels.
Shaina + Bobby opted for a low-key first look in their wooded front yard, along with a few Jewish wedding traditions + rituals sprinkled throughout their ceremony.
I really wanted the absolute best day for these two. It's a big risk A) having an outdoor wedding in Wisconsin and B) hosting a wedding in your home. It's a daring task, and I'm so glad Shaina + Bobby trusted me with it. The risk paid off, x1000.
